Get to Know: Project Lead Joe Helmick

Start off by telling everyone about yourself:

Grew up in Central Iowa and attended the University of Iowa. I spent the last 4 ½ years in Kansas city and recently moved back to the Des Moines area to work for Visionary and be closer to friends and family.

I have a wife and dog and currently live in West Des Moines.

What is your professional background?

Worked 4 ½ years for a healthcare IT company, primarily in consulting.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Traveling, eating, golfing, watching football and soccer, spending time with family and friends

What have you enjoyed about Visionary so far?

Pretty much everything. Visionary has a family-like atmosphere where everyone values one another’s opinions and encourages personal growth.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?

Tacos Mariana’s is probably #1 at the moment.

If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?

An all-in-one tool (with fire starter), an unlimited supply of fresh water, lots of sunscreen

Haven’t read any books or blogs lately.

What’s the best decision you’ve ever made in life?

To just be myself… as much as humanly possible
