Get to Know: Taylor Hilsabeck
Columnist. Copyeditor. Coder. Designer. Award-winning poet.
Over the past few years, Taylor Hilsabeck has developed quite a unique understanding of what it means to clearly communicate.
Now, as a production support specialist, she is using her many skills and talents to help Visionary Services reach new heights within the local web and tech scene.
Keep reading to find out more about our newest visionary, Taylor, who talks about her knack for cooking, her odd fascination with Mortal Kombat, and the one piece of jewlery she never leaves home without:
Start off by telling everyone a little about yourself:
I am originally from State Center, Iowa, but currently live in Ames with my boyfriend and cat. I have a younger brother, Cole, who is a junior in high school. I hate cold weather and love traveling. I also make a mean oatmeal cream pie cookie. I started working at Visionary in early February 2014 as a Production Support Specialist.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I recently completed my BS in Technical Communication with a minor in English at Iowa State University.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy hot yoga, binge-watching Mad Men, singing, road trips, shopping, stand-up comedy, cooking Italian, and reading anything by Jodi Picoult. I also love editing, document design, and typography.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?
I love Trostel’s Dish.
Best book or blog you've read lately?
"Oryx & Crake" by Margaret Atwood
What is one thing you could not live a day without?
Every day I wear the promise ring my dad gave to my mom. I would freak out if I lost it.
What are you loving at the moment?
I recently discovered Sutliff Hard Cider. It’s made in Iowa and not too sweet.
Anything else we should know?
I don’t play video games, but I am oddly amazing at Mortal Kombat.
