Get to Know Software Developer Nathan Phifer
Start by telling everyone about yourself.
I’m Nathan Phifer, I grew up in Monroe, IA where I went to school. After high school, I didn’t have an idea in mind of where I wanted to go or what I wanted to do. I always knew it had to be something with computers. Therefore, I enrolled at DMACC for Web Development and really enjoyed it. When learning there is always a, “how was that done” type of thought, especially in programming since there are always so many different solutions to the same problem.
What is your professional background?
My professional background consists of working at Amplimark LLC as an Intern for about four months. Did web development for a few select clients using VBScript 7 & Custom WordPress. Rather than this, a lot of time outside of work and school has been dedicated to teaching myself technologies I’m interested in.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
As a teenager, I’d say mostly rather playing games or golfing. I’ve done a lot less gaming recently and a lot of my time outside of work is dedicated to programming on different projects. I have around 5 active projects outside of work that keep me busy. One being a discord bot, and the others mainly being SPA’s for the web.
What have you enjoyed about Visionary so far?
The team is so helpful and they make me feel welcomed. I also am intrigued by the tracking system and development process (even though I haven’t done a whole lot).
Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?
Olive Garden
What is your favorite season and why?
Late fall or spring. It’s not scalding hot out or humid and is just an awesome time to be outside.
Best book or blog you’ve read lately?
I'm not a huge reader. The latest blog was CSS var() found it interesting how far CSS has advanced.
What is one thing you could not live a day without?
Probably my computer. Work, schooling, and my hobbies all revolve around this. If not my computer, probably my phone.
What are your words to live by?
Live life how you want.
What are you loving at the moment?
Hobbies outside of work obviously!
