Start by telling everyone about yourself:

I love living in the Midwest and am as laid back as it gets but, I typically can’t sit still. I am usually always doing something. I enjoy living in smaller and closer communities, so it is nice for us not to live too close to Des Moines. Whether I am running, biking, driving, or walking the dogs, I will wave at people that I pass. It’s good to be friendly because everyone is going through something, and a little bit of kindness might make a difference in someone’s day. I grew up in a small town where neighbors would ask for help. My aim is to be helpful in the goal to set other people up for success in anything they want to accomplish. If someone needs tools to finish a birdhouse or someone needs help in learning a new skill that I am good at, I am up to help.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I have started a running chapter here in the Des Moines area so feel free to reach out. We are always looking for more runners! We only meet once per month, unless someone wants a buddy to run with more consistently to meet their fitness goals.

What have you enjoyed about visionary so far?

Company culture is extremely important to me. It’s nice to be productive and do your job, but it feels nice to work at a place that understands that we are all people and “life” happens. Water pipes can burst, children can get sick, and appliances can stop working. No matter what happens, there are other people to help pick up the slack so we don’t miss a beat.

What is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?

My favorite place to eat is Magee’s in Ankeny, IA. It’s a little authentic Irish pub with a nice atmosphere. It’s nice to get to experience other cultures.

What is you favorite season and why?

There really isn’t a best season for me. In the summer, I’ll be running, playing sports or spending time on a lake. In the winter, my son and I will probably be sledding or building things in the snow. The spring is good for farmer’s markets and to socialize with people you haven’t seen over the winter. Fall is good for all the big holidays. Football is also something I really enjoy and I tend to root for the underdogs to keep the game interesting.

What is the best book or blog you’ve read lately?

My son doesn’t let me read books. I’m always running to the next “fun” thing.

What is something you could not go one day without?

Something that I couldn’t live a day without would be laughter. We don’t live on this planet very long. You might as well enjoy the ride.

Words to live by:

I don’t really have words to live by, but I always come back to a bible verse from 2 Timothy that I read at my father’s funeral:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

What are you loving at the moment?

Travel. I’m always looking forward to our next vacation and what we’ll be able to see and experience.
