Get to Know Project Lead Emily Manley
Start off by telling everyone about yourself:
I moved to Des Moines to attend college at Drake University and stuck around the area after graduation. My husband, son and I currently live in Winterset with our two very large, very needy, German shorthair pointers. I love anything techy, I’m usually the one trying something new before it hits the masses.
What is your professional background?
I have been in the digital world for over 10 years now. I’ve worked on everything from SEO, social media, website management, client work, retail, I’ve done a little bit of everything. I actually worked with Visionary as a client throughout multiple previous employers, and I’m SO excited to work on the Visionary team side now.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
My husband and I welcomed our first son in early 2019, so my main hobby is taking care of him! Besides that, I enjoy traveling, taking motorcycle trips, new restaurants in small towns around Iowa, and spending time with family and friends!
What have you enjoyed about Visionary so far?
The technology! I love learning all of the systems and sites and how they work together. There are so many custom pieces that you wouldn’t think are possible, but as a team, Visionary is able to build just about anything.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?
Any of the Wasabi restaurants. Wasabi Waukee is probably my favorite at the moment, but that can always change depending on their weekly sushi roll specials!
What is your favorite season and why?
I like Fall the best – sweatshirt and jeans weather is amazing. It’s the perfect temp for bonfires, picnics, and Harley motorcycle rides.
Best book or blog you've read lately?
I recently re-read all of the Harry Potter original series books and I had forgotten how great they were! I even took the quiz of which house I would be in – Team Gryffindor!
What is one thing you could not live a day without?
Laughter! Life is stressful enough, I could not live a day without laughing at something even if it’s myself.
What are your words to live by?
There so many to choose from! I would say “Be the change you see in the world” is my favorite right now.
What are you loving at the moment?
I’m loving the True Crime Garage podcast! They research and discuss true crime cases from across the country and recommend different unique beers (which I also love trying!)

I think that about covers it. I’m very excited to join the Visionary team!
