Get to Know: Software Developer Kit Kohl

Start off by telling everyone about yourself:

I grew up in the country in northwest Iowa, taking care of farm animals, gardening, and learning all about agricultural from my dad (an ag engineer).

I'm pretty quiet, but I've got a thrill seeking side as well. This year I've gone down-hill skiing in Colorado, free water diving in Panama, sky-diving in Iowa, and a whole lot more.

What is your professional background?

I graduated from ISU with a degree in software engineering, I've also spent two summers doing software engineering related internships

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I like reading books, camping , playing volleyball, traveling, computer gaming, disc golfing, and trying new things.

What have you enjoyed about Visionary so far?

I enjoy the open and friendly atmosphere. Its not like a large corporation where competition is encouraged, but a place where everyone helps each other do the best they can.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?

I'm still new to the area, but I've discovered that the Royal Mile is an excellent place to get dinner on a cold day.

If you were on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would you bring?

I would bring a hammock, my kindle, and a satellite phone to call for help (but only when I get hungry).

Best book or blog you've read lately?

I've been reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. He is one of the best fiction/fantasy writers in the business in my opinion.

What are your words to live by?

Be slow to speak, quick to listen, and have fun.

What are you loving at the moment?

All the games I got on the steam summer sale. I like playing games with my friends or playing strategy games I can talk about with my friends.
