Get to Know Project Lead Kellee Mullen
Start off by telling everyone about yourself:
I am an Iowa native and have lived in the Des Moines area for 10 years.
What is your professional background?
I have a degree in history and microbiology. I worked as a research and development microbiologist with a focus on food safety. That is where I fell into project management.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I love to cook, bake, and read. I love to travel and in general be outside, running, yoga, kayaking. I’ve been riding horses since I was little.
What have you enjoyed about Visionary so far?
The people! Everyone is incredibly helpful and there are so many different personalities.
Where is your favorite place to eat in Des Moines?
Depending on my mood probably Bubba, Cheese Bar, Khatmandu, or Wasabi Sushi.
What is your favorite season and why?
Spring. I love when the flowers start blooming again and the weather is the perfect temp to be outside.
Best book or blog you've read lately?
Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Start Up. It’s about melt-down of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes. The author does a great job explaining technical information to the layperson.
What is one thing you could not live a day without?
There isn’t much I would miss but not having music or pets around would not be a great day.
What are your words to live by?
“Don’t be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try.”
